The Rum Monkey started with a simple, slightly stupid question: what if a comedy club floated?
The answer is the Comedy Boat — the Battersea Barge at Tideway Dock, Nine Elms. Two hundred seats, a full bar, and Battersea Power Station glowing out the window while three comics and a host do their best (and occasionally worst) work. It’s the only comedy club on a boat in London. We checked.
Then came Soho. Friday nights in the basement of Jamon Jamon on Caxton Walk — an intimate, chaotic, electric little room 50 metres from the Palace Theatre. Same quality of line-up, completely different energy. Dark, fresh stand-up in the heart of the West End.
The deal is the same at both venues: three comics, one hilarious host, tickets from £11.50 all-in. The line-ups mix TV names testing new material with the sharpest rising acts on the UK circuit — over 100 comedians cross our stages every year.
